Business moguls brought us everyday things; cars, homes, computers, phones, food, clothing.

Where do you and I fit in – and what do we bring – can we bring something?

Many of us work for someone else. We even get paid well. We even have posh jobs.

We might have our own business.

We might be leaving school or college or university soon.

When it is time to support ourselves we focus on what we’ll make.

We focus on what we want.

We can nowadays buy almost anything our hearts desire.

And the end result several years on is our lives are without meaning.

This only because we focus on what we make and on what makes us feel great!

What we make and what makes us feel great being a lifelong endeavor, we almost certainly have no or little inclination to ask what is it we’d rather want for our lives.

What would we find if we stopped and looked at what we really wanted with our lives? Do we have any idea what we’d find?

Below is a brief account of what happened when I stopped and looked at my life. And why I stopped.

Over a period of five years I became more and more disillusioned with the life I had created.

During these years just before I stopped to look, I consciously adjusted my life to do and acquire the things that seemed to appeal to other people. And the things I had previously deprived myself of.

Interestingly, and in spite of this, it became clearer that my life didn’t work.

I broadened my journey, especially to find out what would make my life work.

This part of the journey took me to areas within myself I didn’t know existed. This journey lead to a deeper understanding of myself.

I saw exactly why my life had no meaning. I saw how my life had evolved into something that didn’t interest me. I saw why that had happened.
I found the wisdom for my life I always yearned for. I found what I wanted and recognized what I didn’t want.

I found exactly why I would decide against what I wanted.

Why I didn’t have clarity when deciding about most things: The big and the small decisions.

I found exactly why I created a life I thought I wanted but really didn’t.

I found the meaning I was looking for; surprisingly, not externally. Instead I found what I was looking for, internally.

My life changed. I saw exactly what my life was about. I saw exactly what I wanted with my life. I saw that instead of looking for meaning in what I did, that my life was about bringing my meaning to what I did.
